I will be offering a workshop on the Warcraft3 WorldEditor for the Acagamics Club. As an tutoring example and because i really like the domination game mode, i had the idea to build a tiny version of the flag/point catpturing part of Tzirrit’s Domination.
While Tzirrit’s Domination is a very large project and takes at least four players per faction to really be playable, Grove of the Ancients will have no NPCs at all. It will be a small-sized map, totally focussed on players capturing and defending ressource spots. While being in control of a ressorue spot, a player rechieves an amount of points every X seconds of the game. The player who reaches a set amount of popints first wins.
There will be four ressource points and four playable classes/unit types. The selection of units will be similar to Tzirrit’s Domination: Each player starts with a basic uni (Spirit), that can be upgraded (only once) to one of tree advanced units. There will be a Stalker (fast offensive melee, can stealth), a Healer (weak offensive magic, can heal), and a Tank (strong defense, weal offense, can stun enemies).
Stay tuned for a map release and the tutorial following. I will put it online after the first workshop.
I quit playing World of Grindcraft a while ago, but i never grow tired of watching machinima or music/pvp videos made using WoW. Recently i stumbled across one of my all time favourites! Even if it features a Human Rogue (for the HoOorde!), the editing and music is awesome and he is subtlety specced and uses hemorrhage, just as i used to be.
If you have a few minutes - take a look at it! Here’s the Link: Kenion 2 - Eviscerape
You can download an alpha version of my new WarCraft3 map Tzirrit’s Domination!
For now, the map is finished and you can just walk around, assault und capture flags, get respawned and if you manage to kill the opposite faction’s leader you win :p The unit upgrading just works for the Tomes of Earth (melee units).
Now i am working on the other upgrades, inserting Creeps and NPCs, making up some REAL bosses (with interesting boss fights) and tweaking some more…
The mapping is almost finished. It maybe needs a little tweaking in some spots, but looks quite good so far. I especially like my little river made of about 80 or so waterfalls

The flag-capturing is working and i added a Multiboard showing which flag belongs to what faction and the time left, before a flag is captured (in case it’s assaulted), togehter with the color of the assaulting faction.
Now i need to add faction NPCs - especially the faction leaders to eliminate - some creeps, some events and distribute the Tomes to the Mobs… And last but not least add all the other unit classes that i have in mind .
